GROWING IN GOD’S LOVE

Valley Christian Preschool is a ministry of Valley Community Presbyterian Church and a celebrated resource within our SW Portland and Raleigh Hills community. We embrace childhood by encouraging each child to discover the world through hands-on learning and the richness of open-ended play. Serving children ages 2-5, we model and teach faith principles such as love, patience, kindness, compassion, self control, and forgiveness. All together, this creates a solid foundation for a child’s formal education and a love of learning in the years to come.

our school

Valley Christian Preschool has been a beloved ministry of Valley Community Presbyterian Church since 1996.  Our goal is to serve our vastly diverse community by providing a safe, warm, welcoming, and inclusive space for families of all backgrounds and beliefs. We are a faith-based preschool and we strive to lead and teach by example – our faith and values are reflected in how we do business, how we treat our students, families, and our community around us – loving others as Christ loved us!

We’d love to show you our classrooms, playground and facilities. To schedule a tour or join our prospective student list, fill out the form below  and/or contact kylie@valleycommunity.org to get started.

Learning through play

Our teachers skillfully prepare and facilitate play-based learning environments appropriate for child-initiated exploration. In an atmosphere of love and acceptance , the children develop self-esteem as well as confidence in their place in the group. Families are supported by our philosophy of sharing God’s love, resulting in a community where we work together to create a wonderful place for children to thrive. World renowned child philosopher, Jean Piaget, sums it up so well when he says, “A child’s play is his work and his work is his play!”  We at Valley Christian Preschool put all our energies into demonstrating God’s love in such a way that each child know without a doubt that he/she is loved and valued, and into supporting your child’s play as important work for the building of his/her self-esteem, both of which, when built together serve as a foundation for success in life-long learning!

Mission

VCP’s Mission & Vision

Valley Christian Preschool believes that children are a precious gift from God and therefore is committed to the development of the whole child. Our preschool is open to all children. We strive to provide a program that will not only meet the basic needs but also nurture the social, emotional, cognitive, physical, development of each child. We are committed to building a sense of trust, respect, and “at home feeling” between staff, children, and parents through open communication and by providing qualified staff trained in early childhood education, who are committed to partnering with individual families to provide the best possible environment for each child.
