Frequently Asked Questionsfaith in action
Do you teach the bible at VCP?
Short answer – No, While we are a faith-based preschool and ministry of Valley Community Presbyterian Church, we do not incorporate religious curriculum, but instead focus on teaching universal values such as kindness, honestly, and most of all – love. Our goal is to serve our vastly diverse community by creating a warm, welcoming, loving space where all children and families are loved, nurtured, and celebrated
parent involvement
Are parents required to volunteer or fundraise?
No. We understand that every family has different schedules, capacities, and commitments, and there is no volunteer hour or fundraising requirement at Valley Christian Preschool.
That said, we truly love the sense of community that comes from families being involved in ways that feel meaningful and manageable to them. Parents often choose to help by donating requested classroom materials, assisting with parties or special events, making playdough for classrooms, or helping teachers prep art materials at home.
Fundraising participation is always optional. Throughout the year we may offer opportunities for families who would like to support our school, teachers, and community programs. These may include donations for teacher appreciation, contributions to our food drive benefiting St. Matthew’s Food Pantry, or occasional school fundraising events.
safety& Security
Is your building secure?
The safety of our students is one of our highest priorities at Valley Christian Preschool. Our building doors remain locked and monitored throughout the school day, with the exception of designated drop-off and pick-up times or for specific pre-scheduled events. Security cameras are located throughout shared spaces and hallways and are readily accessible to both preschool administration and church staff.
We use Brightwheel to help ensure that children are only released to individuals listed on their approved pick-up authorizations. This system allows staff to carefully verify authorized adults and maintain secure dismissal procedures each day.
We regularly practice fire drills, earthquake preparedness, lock-out procedures, lock-down drills, and other safety protocols. These are not only required by licensing but are so important to for both our students and staff. The communication is always developmentally appropriate and light-hearted to prevent any fear and anxiety.
Each classroom also carries a dedicated emergency backpack that stays with students throughout the day — including during playground time, gym activities, and transitions throughout the building. These backpacks contain emergency supplies, first aid kits, hard copies of student emergency information, and any necessary student medications to help ensure staff are prepared wherever students may be. We also keep an extensive stock of emergency supplies in our office.
we love our teachers!

Valley Christian Preschool’s lead teachers are certified and trained in Early Childhood Education. Each staff member is knowledgeable in areas relating to child development, participating each year in professional development to increase our knowledge base.

Testimonials
What Parents are Saying
“A wonderful preschool that nurtures and allows children to learn at their own pace.”
— Amy S
“We have been very happy with VCP! Over the last seven years one or more of our boys have been attending, and we have always felt welcome. The teachers are some of the most caring and compassionate teachers around. My boys made the transition to elementary school with flying colors, and I’m certain its due to what they learned and experienced while at VCP.”
— Molly R.
“A caring, loving environment… the perfect introduction to school for young children! Our son had a great experience and was well prepared for kindergarten.”
